Like many of my pages, this one came about somewhat accidentally. I trusted the process, dove in, and watched it come together without really having a plan in mind.
The background contained some ink splotches I had salvaged from other projects and Distress Ink applied with a blending tool. I tore the words “the power of two” and “perfect partners” from magazines, and stenciled the number 2 onto the page using a blending tool and Distress Ink. I rubber stamped a scroll design and the words “you make each day a little bit brighter” using Archival black ink.
The right side of the page was made collaging a torn dictionary page, an Artist Trading Card that I made in one of my Tim Holtz classes, a floral sticker, and the magazine words. I shaded around the collage elements with charcoal to accentuate the layers. Washi tape stripes across the top and bottom completed the look.
I wonder how many people hold back from art journaling because they don’t know how to do it (or they don’t know what to do). If only they could realize that you don’t have to know ahead of time what it’s going to look like; you simply trust the process, dive in, and see where it takes you.
