Art Journal Page – “Let Them Eat Cake”

Art Journal let them eat cake

This page is unlike any other in my art journal because of all the hand-drawn doodles that create waves of interest flowing across each side of the page.

The background was made using Distress inks applied through stencils with a blending tool.  The foreground is a combination of collage (words cut from a magazine), rubber stamping (the butterflies) and doodled circles of various sizes using a fine tipped black pen.  It’s fun to see how something so simple (hand drawn circles) can be so dramatic when combined with other elements!  I think the trick is to outline the rubber stamped images to create a “border” so the image doesn’t get lost in the doodles.
