Art Journal Page – “Hot Spell”

Art Journal hot spell

Turn up the heat!  This page was inspired by FIRE . . . so I used yellow, orange and red (warm colours).

The background was made using acrylic paint applied with a baby wipe.  I stenciled some red Distress ink on top of that.  I added a pocket (cut from watercolour paper coloured yellow with Dylusion ink sprays and die cut into house shapes with a Tim Holtz/Sizzix die).  Into the pocket, I slid a tag on which I used a white pen to journal about hot things.  The butterflies, flowers, and sun are stickers.  I cut the words “Hot Spell” from a magazine and then rubbed a thin layer of yellow acrylic paint over the words with my finger.  Lastly, I journaled around the edges of the page and added a few touches of red acrylic paint where a little more intensity was needed.

It’s interesting how colour can evoke not just a mood, but also a temperature!
