Art Journal Page – “Dance in the Rain”

Art Journal Dance in the Rain

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”  I love this quote, and had to find a way to include it in my art journal!

I applied a light coat of cream-coloured acrylic paint to the background, and then added teal-coloured circles using acrylic paint applied with large bubble wrap.  I tinted the quote words using Distress ink applied with a blending tool, and collaged the words onto the background.  Next, I sponged black acrylic paint through punchinella (sequin waste) here and there to add more texture.  I applied a double strip of washi tape across the bottom of the page (it’s straight in the art journal, but shows up crooked in this photo).  To make the words stand out, I shaded around them with a gray pen followed by doodles and scribbles with a black pen.  Last but not least, I randomly adhered dimensional raindrop shapes to the page.

Don’t wait for the storm to pass; dance in the rain!

  1. Loove teal. You went nuts with the punchinella, haha, but it frames the center nicely. And I like the layout of the words and the little curly doodles around them.

One thing I noticed when I look at other people’s art journals is that they use words or quotes pretty often, but I tend to use images by themselves. Guess everyone has their own thing.

    • Good observation. . . I hadn’t realized that I do that, but as I think about it, you’re right. Some of my pages feature images — especially some of my earlier pages — but more recently, I’ve had fun playing with quotes that I like. One of the things I love about art journaling is having the option of doing either.
