“Wouldn’t it be great if we could put ourselves in the dryer for 10 minutes and come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller?”
To create this textured background, I crinkled up tissue paper and stuck it to the page with Mod Podge. After it was dry, I applied a thin layer of Inka Gold (a paste paint with a metallic sheen) using a baby wipe, followed by a darker colour of Inka Gold to the wrinkled areas applied with my finger. I applied graphite-coloured Inka Gold to a few spots with my finger to increase contrast. I collaged the image, words, and single corrugate cardboard pieces to the page, and added a little washi tape. Lastly, I doodled some scribbles, swirls, and dots onto the page to help anchor the words and image, and added a few black buttons.
This was one of five inspiration pages for a class I taught at Scrap Arts called “Art Journaling with Inka Gold” in September, 2013. We’ll be offering this class again on January 9, 2014. To sign up, phone the store at 604-980-8811.
