Art Journal Page – “Observations”

Art Journal Observations

This is a fun, layered page that includes several different kinds of elements combined into one project.

The background was made using acrylic paint applied with a baby wipe.  I applied the black face and some black half-circle shapes onto the page using acrylic paint applied with a sponge through stencils.  Next, came layers of washi tape adhered here and there and trimmed with a craft knife to create crisp edges where needed.  The black border is also made with washi tape.  Lastly, I adhered word stickers and edged around them with a black pen.  The word “Observations” is a rub-on.

I rarely have a long-term plan for an art journal page in the beginning; rather, I let the piece take me one step at a time through a process of transformation until I like the way it looks.
